Many Actual Solar employees, on their own time, participate in local programs that encourage alternative commuting solutions, recycling, and advocacy of environmental protection and community involvement.
Fuel-Efficient Fleet Program
As a fast-growing company with sales and installation crews in numerous locations nationwide, our primary environmental impact is automobile use. By January 2008, all solar energy consultants will be driving hybrid vehicles. We also make a concerted effort to operate our vehicles responsibly and economically.
Our highly efficient installation processes reduce our travel as much as possible. We carefully plan each day’s and week’s installation activities to optimize the route and minimize the distance between jobs.
All Actual Solar sales vehicles are US EPA Certified SmartWay Elite and considered "superior environmental performers" by the Environmental Protection Agency. We have also begun to convert our installation trucks to biodiesel in areas where the fuel is available.

- Offering employees the opportunity to work from home, if the position allows
- Saying ‘no thank you’ to plastic and disposable kitchenware

- Printing only on paper with 30-100% recycled content
- Investing in energy-efficient appliances and machines
